 Akmal Khozhiev, a 3-1 pro fighter, was arrested Nov. 7 by the Guam Police Department after allegedly stabbing and killing a doctor during a COVID-19 dispute in Tamuning, according to multiple reports from local news outlets including Pacific Daily News, KUAM News, Pacific News Center, and The Guam Daily Post.
At the time of publication, the Guam Police Department did not respond to MMA Junkie’s inquiries for comment.
Khozhiev, 27, faces charges of first-degree felony aggravated murder with a deadly weapon and second-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Bail for Khozhiev was set at $1 million.

According to a witness, Khozhiev and Dr. Miran Ribati, a radiologist at Guam Memorial Hospital, engaged in an altercation at an apartment complex after a heated debate over the COVID-19 vaccine. The witness said the altercation got physical when Khozhiev choked Ribati unconscious and stabbed him in the throat with an animal bone from a meal the two had shared. Khozhiev allegedly then grabbed a knife and stabbed the doctor again.
Police responded to the scene where they reportedly found Ribati face down in a pool of his own blood. “Sir, it’s me, it’s me, I killed him,” Khozhiev reportedly told police
J.J. Ambrose, a veteran MMA fighter who competed for Bellator among other promotions, used to employ Khozhiev at Steel Athletics in Tamuning and said he was not surprised to hear about the violent altercation. Ribati, like Khozhiev trained for years at the gym.
“He was such a great person up until he wasn’t,” Ambrose told KUAM. “We did everything we possibly could to warn people that AK wasn’t AK anymore. … It’s very hard ’cause I know when you’re friends with two people and those two people are on the outs, you don’t want to take sides. You want to ride in the middle. But in this case, AK seriously needed help, and that was the problem – that people were not trying to take sides, and he seriously needed help this whole time.”
In a statement to Pacific Daily News, Guam Memorial Hospital praised Ribati for his dedication and skills as a physician.
“It is with a heavy, shocked and saddened heart that the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority shares the passing of one of its esteemed physicians, Dr. Miran Ribati. Dr. Ribati was an Interventional Radiologist at GMHA, serving the community for over three years. His talents were undeniable and impeccable; his passion unparalleled; his accolades from patients in droves. He will be sorely missed among colleagues, staff and the entire Guam healthcare community.”

 Elementary school students in West Hartford, Conn. public schools are being forced to undergo “social emotional learning through an equity lens” as district officials have reportedly told parents they may not opt-out of the curriculum, which aims to teach students a set of “social justice standards.”
Parents from the district contacted the non-profit Parents Defending Education to share concerns over materials being used to teach elementary students about group identities, including transgender content being taught to kindergarten students.
One parent raised a red flag about When Aidan Became a Brother, a book being taught to fourth grade students that the parent described as “full on gender theory” which is teaching students that the sex you’re assigned at birth is “wrong.”
“When Aidan was born, everyone thought he was a girl. His parents gave him a pretty name, his room looked like a girl’s room, and he wore clothes that other girls liked wearing,” the description of the book reads. “After he realized he was a trans boy, Aidan and his parents fixed the parts of his life that didn’t fit anymore, and he settled happily into his new life.”
When Aidan’s parents announce they’re having a second child, Aidan “wants to do everything he can to make things right for his new sibling from the beginning” including choosing the best name and picking out the right decor and clothes. The book asks what “making things right” actually means.
Another fourth-grade mentor text is a book about pronouns called They She HE Me; Free to Be!
The lessons are supposed to teach students in kindergarten through fifth grade about social justice standards including identity, diversity, justice and action.
The “identity” standard includes texts that teach students about transgender people and the use of preferred pronouns, including the inclusive singular “they.”
A mentor text for kindergarten students is Introducing Teddy which tells the story about a character and his teddy, Thomas. Thomas says, “I’ve always known that I’m a girl teddy, not a boy teddy. I wish my name was Tilly, not Thomas.” Another text for the kindergarten age group is Let’s Talk About Race.
Meanwhile, a first grade texts include Jacob’s New Dress, a story about a boy who wants to wear a dress to school and Are You a Boy or Are You a Girl?, a book about a character who “prefers not to tell other children whether they are a boy or a girl.”
Third grade students read a similar book called 10,000 dresses about a boy named Bailey who dreams of magical dresses but people in his life tell him he should not be thinking about dresses because he is a boy but later he begins making dresses with a new friend.
Fifth graders also read several books on gender identity including I am Jazz about a character who “knew that she had a girl’s brain in a boy’s body,” and It Feels Good to be Yourself which says, “Some people are boys. Some people are girls. Some people are both, neither or somewhere in between.”
In an email to parents, the district’s director of equity advancement, Dr. Roszena Haskins, explains that the schools have “redoubled district-wide efforts to attend to the social and emotional needs of children and adults.”

 A man suffering from seizures, disorientation, and "speaking gibberish" had tapeworms in his brain.
Doctors in the new case study said he had carried the parasites for years without symptoms.
Parasites are uncommon for most people, and good hygiene and proper cooking can prevent them.
Doctors who treated a man hospitalized with seizures, disorientation, and strange behavior said tapeworms had been living in his brain for years undetected, according to a case study published Thursday in The New England Journal of Medicine.
The 38-year-old man appeared to be in perfect health until one night when his wife awoke to find him on the floor, shaking and "speaking gibberish," according to the case report.
He was hospitalized, and doctors treated him for a seizure, noting that he was unresponsive to questions and seemed to be involuntarily gazing at the ceiling.
The man had no notable history of illness, no medication or drug use, and no symptoms until the seizures, his family told doctors.
The medical team at Massachusetts General Hospital eventually provided a diagnosis of cysticercosis, otherwise known as a tapeworm infection, which was confirmed via brain scans and blood testing.
Tapeworm infections can go undetected for years and can travel to the brain, causing seizures
Two decades earlier, the patient had emigrated from a rural area in Guatemala, where parasite-related illness is endemic, according to the case study.
Parasites from eating undercooked and unsanitary meat or fish can be passed from person to person if people with infections don't wash their hands after using the bathroom. Tiny parasite eggs in the person's poop can spread to other surfaces, or even food, and be ingested by someone else, passing the worms along.
Symptoms of infection include digestive upset, weight loss, and abdominal pain. But the parasite doesn't necessarily stay in your digestive system. The critters' larvae can also migrate throughout the body, into the muscle, and to the brain via the bloodstream, potentially causing a range of symptoms.
For instance, in a similar case of parasite-related seizures from 2019, a 43-year-old man in China complained of headaches, leading to the discovery of hundreds of tapeworms inside his brain. The symptoms, including seizures, started about a month after he dined on a pork hot pot he "felt unsure about."
In one 2020 case study, a woman complained of a sore throat, and doctors found an inch-long parasitic roundworm in her tonsil, most likely caused by sashimi she ate five days earlier.
It can also take years for symptoms to appear, however, since the parasites' eggs can lie in wait inside the body without prompting an immune response, Ars Technica reported.
Parasites can be dangerous, but infections are uncommon in the US
In regions where parasites are more common, including parts of Asia and Central America, as many as half of epilepsy cases are related to tapeworm infections in the brain, according to research. Tapeworms, specifically, can also be found in some parts of the US including Texas, Southern California, and New York City, according to the case study.

“My wife of 12 years left me and our two kids this morning. Her addiction was just too much to handle anymore. She said she would be right back,” he writes with on-screen text.
 As he tells his story, Chris takes care of the home — cutting up fruit, folding laundry, tidying up the couch.
“Were we too much of a burden for her?” he continues. “I tried my best. We had date nights. We have two amazing kids. Nice house and [a] great support system.”
Finally, the video concludes with the hilarious truth of the situation.
“It’s been two hours, and she is still at Target!!” Chris writes.

In September of last year, then Democratic presidential nominee Biden criticized incumbent President Trump on Twitter for refusing to condemn anti-BLM actors as “white supremacists.” The tweet text was accompanied by a video which showed an image of Rittenhouse’s face.

Rittenhouse fatally shot two men and injured another after falling to the ground while fleeing a group of attackers. The shooting occurred during the riots that followed the police killing of Jacob Blake in Kenosha last August.
After the Rittenhouse trial began early this month, Rittenhouse’s mother, Wendy Rittenhouse, appeared on Fox News to say that Biden “defamed” her son when he called him a white supremacist.
“He is not a white supremacist. He is not a racist,” Rittenhouse told Fox News host Sean Hannity Thursday night.
It is the prosecution’s contention that the 18-year-old was a rogue opportunist who traveled to Kenosha to seek out opportunities for violence. While the prosecution is alleging that Rittenhouse committed homicide, the defense argues that he acted in self-defense that night. Rittenhouse testified in his own defense last week, breaking down on the stand as he recounted his version of events.
The judge presiding over Rittenhouse’s murder trial dismissed a lesser misdemeanor charge of possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18 Monday morning before closing arguments began.

 Brittani Curtis posted a viral TikTok video on November 10 showing a $7,000 order from McDonald's.
Curtis said the order was placed by a local prison that regularly does business with the restaurant.
According to Curtis, McDonald's staff only had four hours to prepare the meal.
A McDonald's employee claimed she took a $7,000 order in a TikTok video that went viral.
Brittani Marie Curtis (@brittanicurtis23), posted a TikTok on November 10 with the caption "no lie, ya girl is TIRED!"

Curtis said in the video's comment section that the order was for a local prison in Perry, Georgia, and staff only had four hours to make the order. The McDonald's is located near the Houston County Detention Center, according to WSB-TV Atlanta, but it's unclear if that is the location the order was for.
In the 22-second clip, Curtis said she prepared a 6,400-item order comprised of 1,600 McChicken sandwiches, 1,600 McDoubles, and 3,200 cookies.
The video had more than 784,000 views and 127,000 likes at the time of publication.
Boxes filled with McChicken and McDouble sandwiches in the restaurant's kitchen are displayed in the video.
Curtis also mentioned that she had to make multiple transactions of 500 when taking the order, and employees tracked the items by counting them 20 by 20.
In the comments, Curtis said the prison paid for the food upfront. "We do business with them a lot," Curtis continued. "They're very credible. It's usually never such short notice though."
Curtis, representatives from the detention center, and McDonald's did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Chris Christie writes in his memoir that Trump blew up at Christie for recommending Wray for the role.
"He's doing an awful job, and he's your pick. He was your pick," Trump told Christie of Wray.
Former President Donald Trump told Chris Christie that FBI Director Christopher Wray was the " worst member " of his administration and blamed Christie for recommending Wray for the role, the former New Jersey governor wrote in his forthcoming memoir.
Christie writes that Trump randomly brought up Wray's job performance while Christie was at the White House helping the president prepare for his first debate with Joe Biden in September 2020.
"Do you want to know who the worst member of my administration is?" Trump asked Christie, according to the book, "Republican Rescue." "Your guy. Your guy Chris Wray. He's the worst."
Christie writes that he urged Trump to hire Wray, a former federal prosecutor, after the president fired former FBI Director James Comey in the spring of 2017. Wray served as Christie's personal attorney during the Bridgegate scandal, which involved the prosecution of Christie's top aides for retaliating against a Democratic mayor by closing lanes on the George Washington bridge. Wray, then in private practice at King & Spalding LLP, charged New Jersey taxpayers $2.1 million for his representation of the governor.
Christie writes that he'd known Wray since he was a United States attorney in New Jersey and that he'd "always been impressed by his intelligence, professionalism, and his work ethic."
The former governor says he defended Wray from Trump's attacks.
"He's really not, Mr. President," Christie says he told Trump. "In fact, he's done a great job with the FBI. He's reshaping it, reclaiming it. He's fired all the people who were executive types in the Comey administration. Chris Wray is doing a great job for you."
But that only enraged Trump further.
"No, he's not," Trump replied, according to Christie. "He's doing an awful job, and he's your pick. He was your pick."
After Christie again pushed back, insisting Wray was Trump's pick and was "one of the best picks you've made in this entire four years," Trump blew up, yelled "bullshit," and abruptly ended the debate prep session.
Trump and his top aides had private conversations about firing Wray after the 2020 election over his failure to investigate Biden and his son, Hunter, multiple outlets reported prior to Election Day.
A spokesperson for Trump didn't immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
